Senior and Special Needs Dog Sitting Service

A senior dog is a most precious and irreplaceable treasure. Cherish each day, for your time with each other is not infinite. As with people, dogs slow down with age. They may want to take less exercise and start to put on weight. Some dogs become friendlier, and want to spend more time with their owners while others become grumpier. Some become more anxious because they may not see or hear as well as they used to and are slower at getting away from danger. Changes in personality can also be a sign of pain or illness, so, if in doubt, contact your vet.

Senior Dog Care Services

While nothing can be done to halt the inevitable process of ageing there is much we can do to make the autumn years comfortable and enjoyable for our dogs. Routine and comfort are very important to your senior dog, and they will be less able to cope with change. The essential thing to remember during these golden years is to pay attention to your greying companion and try to understand and accommodate their needs. If they are cold, give them a blanket; if they are forgetful, forgive them; if they ache, give them a gentle massage; if they are slow, wait for them; if they are tired, let them sleep. Above all love them and spend as much time as possible with them. If you sometimes can't be there in person through the day then ask us to look in on your senior dog and spend some time with them. We'll give them all the love and attention they need, and we know to be specially mindful of failing hearing, eyesight and mobility.
